Lagos lawmaker, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (APC Lagos-East) has commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for seamless and peaceful conduct of the council election in the state.
Abiru gave the commendation while casting his vote at about 10:35 at ward C, Aga/Ijomu unit 11, Ikorodu, Lagos state.
He said the process was seamless, encouraging and orderly with a good turnout, indicating how people are committed and ready to get involved in grassroots transformation.
“I give very high kudos to the organisers, the orderliness and turnout of people are encouraging.
“Now, more people engage and get involved on how the grassroots will continue to transform.
“It is very commendable, even the security agencies are present as you can see that there is no rancour.
“I believe this is how we can deepen democracy by prioritising the people’s interest and creating more zeal for the process.”
According to him, the National Assembly is being careful and following due process in passing the Law, empowering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct council election.
“I am not sure there is any delay, it is a process and we are following it carefully.” he added. NAN
