The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the date to inaugurate former Senate President, David Mark, and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as its interim National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.
NPO earlier Reported the emergence of Mark and Aregbesola as the party’s key national leaders following the adoption of the party by the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG) ahead of the 2027 General election.
The ADC in a post on its official X handle on Tuesday disclosed that the new national leaders will be inaugurated today at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
According to the post, the party’s stakeholders, national executives, and the Press will be there.
“The official unveiling of Senator Mark as chairman is scheduled for Wednesday (July 2) next week in Abuja, with party stakeholders, national executives, and members of the media expected to be in attendance.” The post read.
Recall that the NOCG was formed by opposition politicians led by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
Also joining the group were former Kaduna and Rivers State governor, Nasir El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi.
Aregbesola, David Mark, and the 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, also joined the group with the sole aim of ousting the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) out of power.
However, the coalition group had recently experienced series of development.
Prior to the adoption of the ADC, the group had submitted a letter of intent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of a new political party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), with Chief Akin Ricketts and Abdullahi Elayo appointed as interim chairman and secretary.
Also, Peter Obi recently ruled out his involvement in a coalition joint ticket.
With the adoption of the ADC, the unison of the NOCG remains uncertain as a likely division within the group looms.
