Former Nigerian Presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has predicted tense days in the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 Presidential election, especially on the possibility of Vice President Kashim Shettima returning as Tinubu’s running mate.
Momodu made this known during an interview on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics yesterday.
The Ovation Magazine publisher held that Shettima is currently at crossroad, warning that his removal may backfire for the APC while retaining him may also put the ruling party at risk with its repetition of Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“Let me give you a prediction again. You know I’m a prophet. I was born and named Joseph at birth in Ile-Ife. I am telling you that in the coming weeks and coming months, Tinubu will begin to lose sleep when he sees the true colour of human beings.
“They will show him. All those who are expecting something from him today, they are pretending like a rattle snake waiting and hoping that they will get something.
“When they can no longer get it, they will seek their fortune elsewhere. Even right now, their own Vice President, a very cerebral gentleman, is at the crossroad because APC does not know whether it can risk a Muslim-Muslim ticket again.
“So, Kashim Shettima, the VP, is there perching and watching and waiting for who will remove him as Vice President and go and bring a northern Christian.
“Even MKO Abiola in 1993 could not do it. He had to chicken out. Now, they are at that crossroad and if they remove him, it may backfire. And if they retain him, it is a Catch 22 situation for them.” Momodu said.
The ex-presidential candidate ruled out Tinubu’s chance of winning with through the governors’ defecting to the APC.
“I try to simply this thing so that those who think Tinubu’s strategy is full proof, he has gathered all the governors in Nigeria, I will the simple example I love to give is what happened to members of the G5 led by Wike in the last election.
“Three of them contested Senatorial elections. They all lost and they were sitting governors. So, what give Tinubu the confidence that he will be all to get the governors to deliver the votes for him.” He said.
Momodu reaffirmed his stance on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar defeating Tinubu in the 2027 election with the support of the northerners.
“Finally, the will of the people. I don’t know much about certain parts of the circle, but I know that today after Buhari in the north, they have a queuing system from my analysis, Atiku Abubakar.
“Even those who don’t like Atiku before, now he is smelling like rose because the enemy of your enemy is your friend. Atiku Abubakar, if he runs, he has prepared forever like Donald Trump.
“Atiku Abubakar started in 1993 when he stepped down for MKO Abiola. That is when my fascination for him started from. He is there waiting and his people, I believe will support him and defend their votes.” He added.
