The spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has alleged arrest of Accord Party supporters at the ongoing 2026 Osun Governorship Election.
Olajengbesi, in a statement issued on his Instagram handle on Saturday, narrated invasion of polling units at Ijebu-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of the state by soldiers allegeedly led by members of the All Progressives Congress.
The soldiers were reported to have arrested Accord members exercising their franchise at the polling units.
‘We can confirm that unauthorised soldiers on Saturday at noon invaded Ijebu-Ijesa, in the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State and began to arrest Accord Party members who were at polling units to cast their votes.
‘The soldiers were led by members of the All Progressives Congress and were not part of the troops officially designated for election duties in Ijebu-Ijesa or Oriade LGA.’ He wrote.
Attached to the statement is a video showing the rampaging soldiers enforcing what Olajengbesi called arbitrary arrests of Accord Party members during the Saturday’s election.
The Governor Ademola Adeleke campaign spokesperson condemned the attack as he called on the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, to stop the targeted arrest on Accord members by the soldiers.
‘The Imole Campaign Council finds this development unacceptable. Soldiers must not make themselves tools in the hands of desperate power-seeking politicians.
‘We call on the Chief of Army Staff to stop the targeted arrest and intimidation of Accord Party members by soldiers manipulated by the APC.’ He said.
