As Nigeria grapples with mounting infrastructure deficits and revenue shortfalls, industry leaders and policymakers are set to convene at the NPO Reports Annual National Dialogue.
The event themed “Revenue Generation, Infrastructure Progress: Options in a Challenged Economy” is slated to hold on Tuesday 26th of November, 2024 by 10am at the Nigerian National Merit Award House (Merit House) Maitama Abuja.
The event will feature prominent figures including the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, as the keynote speaker of the event and former Postmaster General, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, will chair the event.
Also expected to speak is the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Dr. Temitope Fasua, Senior Associate, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Idayat Hassan, and Senior Research Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research, Dr. Hakeem Tijani and Chief Communication Officer, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Femi Soneye.
The panel session will be moderated by the former Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Women’s Trust Fund, Dr. Mufuliat Fijabi.
They will discuss innovative solutions for bridging the nation’s infrastructure gaps while boosting revenue generation.
The dialogue seeks to offer critical insights into the ongoing challenges and potential pathways forward for Nigeria’s economic growth and sustainability.
It will also focus on generating revenue to tackle significant infrastructure deficits in critical sectors such as education, health, security, and roads.

Chairman:
Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, a First-Class Economics Graduate of the University of Ife (now OAU) bagged a PhD in International and Monetary Economics from the Keio University, Tokyo, Japan with an LLB from the University of Lagos. He was Commissioner for Finance and later Budget and Economic Plannings under the administration of Governor Bola Tinubu. He was former Postmaster General of the Federation.
Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Zacch Adedeji, a First Class Graduate of Accounting from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, is a Tax Administrator and former Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State. He holds a PhD in Accounting. Before his appointment as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Adedeji served as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Sugar Development Council and Special Adviser to the President on Revenue.
Dr. Hakeem Tijani
Panelist:
Dr. Hakeem Olatunji Tijani is a Senior Research Fellow of Political Science in Political and Governance Policy Department at NISER. Tijani was educated at the University of Ibadan Oyo state, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Political Science. He earned his Master of Science (M.Sc) and Doctorate (PhD) degrees in Political Science in the same University. He has been with NISER for more than 3 decades.
Dr. Tope Fasua
Panelist:
Dr. Fasua, Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, holds a PhD in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. A Chattered Account, with Executive courses in Harvard, and other institutions, he had earlier bagged a Master’s Degree in Financial Markets and Derivatives at the London Metropolitan University.

Idayat Hassan of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, was until recently Director of the Centre for Democracy and Development, A lawyer with fellowships in universities across Europe and America, she has published research on Nigeria’s WhatsApp Politics in the Journal of Democracy. Her analysis has been sought by leading international publications likeThe Economist, Financial Times, BBC and The Guardian. He is an Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Birmingham.
Mr. Femi Soneye

Mr. Soneye, the Chief Communication Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd, is a seasoned communicator. He is a member of reputable bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists, the National Association of Black Journalists, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Guild of Corporate Online Media Publishers. Soneye was one time President of the Nigerian Media Practitioners (NMP) in Washington, D.C, United States.

Dr. Mufuliat Fijabi
Dr. Fijabi was until recently the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Women’s Trust Fund and currently, the Executive Director
Sustainable Gender Action Initiative.
She was a journalist having worked at The Guardian, Star FM, MITV before his career in develop work. She has been at the BAOBAB Women Development Initiative and the United Nations Development Programme.
