President Bola Tinubu has attributed the public criticism of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to Nigerians lack of compliance to rules and regulations.
Tinubu made this known during a media parley at the State House on Tuesday.
The President had at the interview with journalists stood in defense of Wike while reacting to the FCT Minister’s alleged land grabbing issue raised by Arise TV Presenter, Reuben Abati, who labelled Wike the most controversial Minister in Tinubu’s cabinet.
Responing in a clip of the interview shared on X, Tinubu labelled Wike a performing Minister while citing Nigerians lack of compliance as the cause of the rifts between the minister and the public.
He decried the untimely payment of ground rents by FCT residents as well as their perception of compliance as inconvenience.
The President hailed Wike for his enforcement activities in the FCT.
“He is a good man. He is a performing Minister.
“Nigerians lack compliance. We don’t pay our ground rent on time.
“We don’t prioritise on things to do. We see compliance as inconveniences. I doff my hat for him.” The President said.
