Governor Sim Fubara has on Wednesday sworn in 23 chairmen of caretaker committees for all the local government areas in the state.
The swearing in came amidst crisis that had engulfed the state in the 48 hours over the lapsed tenure of the former council helmsmen.
The state House of Assembly, led by factional Speaker, Victor Jumbo, had screened and confirmed the nominees.
The House had earlier sent out a letter of invitation to all the nominees on Tuesday asking them to come for screening on Wednesday.
The letter was signed by the Clerk of the House, Dr. GM Gillis West.
Shortly after the screening, the nominees proceed to the the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
NPO Reports that there was tight security around the area as the event went underway.
