A female student of Anchor University, Evangel Ganiyu, has made allegations of sexual assault by an artisan on the school campus.
The student put out a call for justice via her X handle, @draganaismother.
According to Ganiyu, the university is currently undergoing renovation and remodelling, especially in the hostels, hence the presence of artisans on campus.
She revealed that she called the attention of the hostel authorities to the occurence after which she was requested to identify the perpetrator.
On identifying him, she stated that he denied until another female student identified him after which he began to plead.
“The people around gave him a minor beating. The people around (porters, head of the boys that came to work, and others) started saying that I should forgive him, that he’s a small boy and he is probably under the influence. I called my father and told him everything. After all this, they took him to the security unit.
“My super then took me to the Vice Chancellor’s (PROFESSOR Samuel Oye Bandele) office to explain the situation. I told him what had happened. He proceeded to ask me the following questions: “were your clothes on?” “Was your underwear on?”, to which I answered yes and yes.
“He then asked me how old I was. I told him. He then said that I am not a two-year-old girl, saying that how will I not know if a man penetrated me or not.”
“He then says that I am a bad girl, that I am being economical with the truth and that I should be tested (by a male doctor btw) because I was being shady.” she wrote.
Ganiyu further disclosed that it seems to be a normal occurrence in the institution where students are molested and the school authorities try to cover up the incident.
She has however called for the school to be held to book.
