The Osun State Governor, Ademolla Adeleke, has charged the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to arrest anyone involved in violence in the state regardless of their affiliation with him.
Adeleke gave the charge while speaking during a courtesy visit to the Osun Government House by Disu on Friday.
Earlier in his address, the IGP had accused the Accord Party and harbouring suspects wanted by the police with some of them allegedly hibernating within the government house.
Disu also accused the All Progresssives Congress (APC) of same claim Disu said was reported to him by the Osun Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan.
Reacting to the allegation, Adeleke gave the Police Chief the go ahead to arrest anyone involved in involved in violent activities, even if the person is his son.
He decried the spate of political violence across the state ahead of the August governorship election.
Adeleke cited the killing of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade, at Ilobu town in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
“Any of my people that committed crime, arrest them and I will support you.
“All these lies Look, if it is my son that committed crime, arrest him. I’m saying what I’m saying in front of you.
“But for you to be playing this game and all of that. The 14-year-old boy that they killed at Ilobu.” He said.
While commending the IGP for his directive which led to the arrest of the prime suspect involved murder, Adeleke disclosed alleged plot by hoodlums to attack communities again and scare people.
He expressed delight over the IGP’s stance against indiscipline and act of violence.
“The police did a good job under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, arresting that person.
“And I have a security report that they had a meeting that in two weeks time, they start shooting again so that people can be scared.
“And I’m glad the Inspector-General of Police is here today and he has said it openly that he will not tolerate any act of indiscipline. That is why I’m happy.” Adeleke said.
