A torrents of condolences have hit the airwaves as Nigerians have expressed concerns over the death of Mrs. Jane Balogun, mother of popular singer Ayo Balogun, popularly called Wizkid.
Mrs Balogun reportedly died on Friday.
David Adeleke popularly called Davido, Olamide and Burna Boy have all sent condolences over the death of Mrs Balogun.
While Davido said “Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo Sadness flies away on the wings of time. ❤️”
While responding, another singer Olamide wrote “Prayers up for wiz 🙏🏾”
Burna Boy reportedly stopped his show in the ongoing Afro Nation tour when he asked fans to observe a minute of silence for the mother of one of his friends Wizkid.
Many other Nigerians have taken to the social media pages to express support for Wizkid.
Among them is presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last election Mr. Peter Obi.
A video of the moment Burba Boy made the request has gone viral on social media platforms.
Obi said the death of the mother was painful as he wrote, “On behalf of the OBIdient family, I sincerely commiserate with Mr Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, (Wizkid), who reportedly lost his beloved mother. The death of a loved one is a very painful experience, more so a beloved mother. Dear Wizkid, may God Almighty who called her home grant her eternal rest in His kingdom and grant you and your family the fortitude to bear her irreplaceable loss.
