Governor Dauda Lawal, of Zamfara, has conceded to accepting the newly nominated Permanent Secretary to represent his state, Dr. Maryam Keshinro Ismaila.
NPO Reports that the Governor had earlier rejected her nomination on the grounds that she was not from the state.
However, the governor, Sunday evening hosted the nominee in what was seen as a fence-mending action to bring about cooperation between the state government and the newly appointed permanent secretary.
Lawal’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, in a statement, said the governor hosted Mrs Ismaila on Sunday, commending her for her achievements and pledging to support her as the permanent secretary representing the state.
The governor, while hosting her, congratulated Mrs Ismaila asking her to be a good Ambassador of Zamfara State.
“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate you on your recent appointment as a federal permanent secretary.
“This is indeed a remarkable milestone that we hope and pray you will utilise for the service of our dear nation and also help us in our quest to rebuild our beloved state.
“Zamfara State government will provide you with all the support you need, and we are proud of your achievements.
“I host you today to appreciate you and to let you know that on behalf of the state, we are all proud of you,” Mr Idris quoted the governor saying.
The Governor was later Sunday evening confirm hosting Keshiro through his X handle when he wrote, “This evening, I had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Maryam Ismail Keshinro, the newly appointed Federal Permanent Secretary from Zamfara State.
“Her appointment has demonstrated that we have outstanding individuals making us proud at the national level. Dr. Maryam’s accomplishments impress me and the entire people of Zamfara.
“On behalf of the Zamfara State Government, I extend my best wishes to Dr. Maryam in her new role. I sincerely hope she will bring about positive change for the betterment of Nigeria and, by extension, our state.”
The Zamfara state Head of Service, had in May written to the Head of Service of the Federation to drop the nomination of Keshinro on the grounds that she was not from the state.
Keshinro, is however, said to be from Tsafe Local Government Area of the state but only married to a Yoruba man.
