Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has alongside ex-Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, arrived at Daura, Katsina State, for the burial of late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Atiku and El-Rufai who were also accompanied by former Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal arrived at the hometown of the late ex-President shortly after the arrival of his body at the Yar’Adua International Airport.
While the trio had joined other notable dignitaries at the late Buhari’s residence, an impending tense atmosphere is however likely anticipated at the state burial considering the presence of President Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Atiku had recently spearheaded the opposition coalition group’s adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with the sole aim of ousting the ruling party out of power at the 2027 General election.
Recall that Buhari had emerged as the APC flagbearer at the 2015 General election as he defeated Atiku at the primaries.
In a bid to deny the late former President of his re-election bid in 2019, Atiku defected back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he secured the Presidential ticket.
However, the late Buhari would again defeat him and secured another four years in office.
