Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has mourned the demise of Umma El-Rufai, the mother of former Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
NPO earlier Reported the passing of the matriach who died in the early hours of Friday as announced in a statement issued by her grandson, Bello El-Rufai.
Reacting to the development in a statement issued on his X handle, Atiku expressed shock over the death of Umma.
The ex-Vice President extended his condolences to the El-Rufai family while maintaoning that the matriach died at a prime old age.
“The news of the demise of Hajia Umma El-Rufai is a shocking development.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the @elrufai family and friends and pray that Allah (SWT) accepts her soul and grant her Al-Janna Firdaus.
“Hajia Umma lived to a prime old age in dignity and service to family and community.” He wrote.
Atiku described her as woman of sound faith as he prayed for the family.
“She was a woman of sound faith and her passing on the day of Jumu’ah is a source of consolation to the family.
“It is my prayer that Allah comforts the family and ease their grief.” The ex-Vice President added.
