Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has mourned the demise of prominent Bauchi Muslim cleric, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz Dutsen Tanshi.
The cleric reportedly passed away today after prolonged illness.
Atiku, in a post on his X handle, described Idris as a promoter of peace which he affirmed with his last public appearance, on Sallah day.
Describing his demise as a tremendous loss, Atiku lauded the late Idris for his commitment guidance, and exemplary character.
The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased cleric.
“Sheikh Dr. Idris Abdulaziz Dutsen Tanshi was a renowned Islamic cleric and a promoter of peace. Indeed, his last words on Sallah day at the Eid prayer service in Bauchi were of the need for peaceful coexistence among the Muslim faithful.
“His profound knowledge and wisdom touched the lives of countless individuals.
“Tanshi’s commitment to the faith, combined with his guidance and exemplary character, will always be remembered by all who were privileged to know him.
“This is a tremendous loss, not only for his family and community but for all of humanity. I pray that Allah (SWT) grants him eternal peace and places him among the righteous in Jannah. May He also comfort his family and loved ones at this difficult time.” Atiku wrote.
