The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) said it had granted three years tax exemption to 34 companies in 2023. Mrs Lovina Kayode, Head of Incentives Administration, NIPC, told newsmen in Abuja that the exemption was to promote the company’s investments drive towards developing the nation’s economy. “This tax exemption known as Pioneer Status Incentives (PSI) is executed under the Investors Relations Department of the NIPC and allows a company three years of not paying Corporate Income Tax,” she said. Two persons have lost their lives in a fuel-laden tanker explosion on Abakaliki–Onueke-Afikpo Expressway in Ebonyi. Mr Igwe Nnabuife, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, in Abakaliki. The Senate has passed the N28.7trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill, increasing the budget from the N27.5trillion presented by President Bola Tinubu with about N1.2 trillion. The passage of the bill, followed the approval of report of the Senate Committee on Appropriation at plenary on Saturday. The Police Command in Oyo State has arrested four suspected gunrunners and 34 others for alleged armed robbery, kidnapping, car snatching and land grabbing. The Police Command in Oyo State arrested no fewer than 207 armed robbery suspects and recovered 50 vehicles from January to December.
