Popular Nigerian novelist and playwright, Mabel Dorothy Segun has passed on at the age of 95. A statement by the deceased’s family revealed that she died in the early hours of Thursday. “It is with gratitude to God for a life well spent in the pursuit of excellence in Literature, Broadcasting and Sports that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mabel Dorothy Okanima Segun (nee Aig-Imoukhuede)” the statement read. Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Police Command in Lagos State have arrested a suspect, who specializes in dealing in fake alcoholic drinks. An Abuja High Court on Tuesday, threatened to revoke the bail it granted to Yisa Usman, the sacked Deputy Director, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), over behaviour considered to be improper. Nigeria’s telecommunications sector has witnessed a robust recovery, with active subscriptions surging to 169.3 million in January 2025, up from 164.9 million in December 2024. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) made this known in an industry statistics on its website. The telecoms regulator said that this robust recovery followed a period of decline, which saw subscriptions plummet to 154,904,827 in September 2024.
