Barely a month in office, newly-elected Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government in Anambra State, Franklin Ikechukwu Nwadialo, has been arrested in the United State. He was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), on charges of internet fraud which is attributed to his alleged involvement in a romance scam that defrauded several victims of over $2 million. The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has on the recommendations of the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, approved the release of 55 inmates from various correctional facilities across the State. A statement signed by the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, said the order was for the immediate release of 40 inmates while others are to be released after serving additional terms of between three – six months. The Cross River’s Chapter of Magistrates Association of Nigeria, on has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the state government to effect promotion of its stagnated members or face strike. The National Onion Producers, Processors, and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NOPPMAN), says its members have recorded more than 50 per cent losses within the onion value chain.
