No fewer than two persons have died in an accident as a truck allegedly attempting to evade a task force collided in Ikorodu area of Lagos State. A statement by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, stated that the incident occurred at Powerline by Cele Bus Stop, Ita-Oluwo, Ikorodu on Sunday. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it recorded a 12.8 per cent reduction in Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) between January and October 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted N3.3billion worth of shipments of meth and “loud”, a strong synthetic strain of cannabis. The Director of Media and Advocacy in the agency, Mr Femi Babafemi, disclosed this on Sunday in Abuja. Babafemi said that the drugs which were concealed in automobile spare parts imported from Canada was seized at the Tincan seaport in Lagos. The seizure, he said, followed months of intelligence-driven tracking of the cargoes across three continents by the NDLEA operatives. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recovered 636,600 bottles of codeine-based syrup worth N4.4 billion in street value at Port Harcourt Port Complex, Onne, Rivers. Justices A.N. Erhabor and W.I. Aziegbemhin of Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City and Justice F. A. Olubanjo of the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba have convicted and sentenced seven internet fraudsters to various jail terms. The convicts identified as Precious Okeleke, Austine Iwuner, Saint Felix, Ododo Mathias, Idahosa Kelvin, Bankole Adaranijo, Owie Osasenago Stephen were convicted and sentenced between December 10 and 12.
