Agency Report The Bauchi State Government, in partnership with UNICEF, launched well chlorination initiative in 17 communities of Katagum Local Government Area to prevent water-borne diseases. Mrs Rahab Jatau, the Chief Scientific Officer of the Bauchi State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), disclosed this during the chlorination in Buskuri community of Katagum. She said the initiative aims to minimise the incidence of water-borne diseases such as diarrhea, among others, which have been prevalent in the area. Safiu Kehinde  An Ibadan Family Court sitting, has, on Thursday, remanded a 76-year-old man, Akeem Muritala, in a correction centre for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl. According to the prosecutor, Insp. Gbemisola Adedeji, Muritala committed the offence in July in Isale-Afa area of Ibadan. She said that the raped victime reported what happened to the police. The prosecutor stressed that the offence contravened Section 34 of the Child Rights Law 2006. In response to the hearing, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.…

Safiu Kehinde Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers after collecting N3 million ransom from kidnapped victim’s family. This was reportedly confirmed Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday. According to Hundeyin, the Isashi Police Division received a call from a concerned citizen on Tuesday at about 12:00 noon about the kidnapping operation. “The report revealed that some hoodlums had an unknown person at Oke Moro, Isashi,” he said. As confirmed in a statement by Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s (LASEMA) Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu on Wednesday, the incident happened at the Bus Rapid Transport corridor at Iyana-Ipaja inward Pleasure road.
