Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched a “special military operation” in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. In a televised address, he urged Ukrainian soldiers who are facing off Russian-backed rebels to lay down weapons and return to their homes. Mr Putin said Russia did not plan to occupy Ukraine, but warned that Moscow’s response would be “instant” if anyone tries to take on Russia. Popular artsistes, Mohbad and Zinoleesky have been arrested by officials of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency in Lagos. A video that has surfaced shows NDLEA officials in a premises obviously where the singers live and forcefully arrested the artistes. An unknown number of casualties has been recorded in Enugu State as the council election held on Wednesday. It was a story of attacks and arson in some places as unknown gunmen set vehicles ablaze while killing others. There were reports of three persons who were burnt inside their car. Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara on Wednesday swore-in Sen. Hassan Nasiha as the state new deputy governor, following the impeachment of Mahdi Aliyu by the State House of Assembly. The Lagos State Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Mr Adewale Adebisi, says 352 inmates are on death row at the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre. Adebisi made the disclosure on Wednesday while delivering his address of welcome at the 2022 Correctional Centres Decongestion Exercise. Police Confirms One Dead During Osun PDP Ward Congress The Nigeria Police Force, Osun Command, on Wednesday confirmed the killing of one person in Iwo, during the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Congress in the state.
