Troubling Days Ahead for Varsities as ASUU, FG Negotiations End Inconclusive The meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities with the Federal Government has ended on another note of disagreement. The meeting which was called on Tuesday to address issues that precipitated the strike nationwide, came to an end late into the night after which both parties could not reach any agreement. The Head of Media Ministry of Finance, Mr. Olajide Osundun, has explained the circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak at the ministry early Wednesday morning. Osundun, while addressing journalists after the fire had been put out, explained that the fire emanated from an exploded battery in the inverter room. He said about six batteries were affected. A medical doctor at Dowen College, Dr Mojisola Bisiriyu, on Tuesday told an Ikeja Corona’s Court that no medical test was conducted on the late student of the school, Sylvester Oromoni, before he was taken home on health grounds. Bisiriyu, the resident doctor at Dowen College, qualified as a medical doctor in 2007. She told the court that he had been working with the school for five years. The renewed clash between rival cult groups in some areas of Ilesa, Osun State, has reportedly left 10 people dead. It was gathered that blood flowed as rival suspected cultists clashed at Brewery, Ifofin, Idasa and Irojo areas of the town on Monday and extended to Tuesday, leaving behind dead bodies. No fewer than nine residents of Ilokun Government Reservation Area, within the vicinity of Progress FM in Ado-Ekiti, have been hospitalised after inhaling thick smoke emanating from a dump site located in the area.
