A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, dismissed the suit seeking to challenge former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s eligibility to vie for the office of the president. Delivering judgment, Justice Inyang Ekwo, dismissed the suit on the grounds that the plaintiff that instituted the case lacked the locus standi (legal right) to do so. Seven children have been killed in Niger in an air strike by the Nigerian army targeting “bandits”, a local governor and state media have said. Five more were hurt in the apparently accidental strike, the governor of Niger’s Maradi region told AFP. Governor Chaibou Aboubacar said four were killed instantly and three died on their way to hospital. State TV said the attack happened in Nachade village. The Queen has tested positive for Covid, Buckingham Palace has said. The monarch is experiencing “mild cold-like symptoms” but expects to continue “light duties” at Windsor over the coming week, the palace said. “She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines,” it added in a statement. He was the founder of SBTV, an online urban music platform which helped launch the careers of artists like Dave, Ed Sheeran and Skepta. Two teenagers have been reported drown at the dam in Rayfield Resort, Jos, Plateau. The victims are Michael Nyam, eight years, and Elijah Solomon, six years old. Mr Gyang Pwol, an eye witness, said on Sunday in Jos that the boys were drowned on Saturday evening. He said that they were both residents of Rayfield community. The Ethiopian Government, on Sunday, announced its grand hydroelectric dam has started generating electricity. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed officially inaugurated the first power generation of the mega-dam, dubbed Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), which is set to be the largest hydroelectric plant in Africa, state-run Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) reported. “The dam’s electricity generation is a blessing for the downstream countries too. “We want to export our pollution-free power to Europe through Sudan and Egypt,”’’ Ahmed said during the inaugural ceremony.
