A US woman whose boyfriend killed her son while she was at work has been sentenced to 16 months in jail. Rebecca Hogue, 29, was convicted in November of the first-degree murder of her two-year-old son Ryder, under Oklahoma’s “failure to protect” laws. A jury recommended she be sentenced to life in prison, but a judge has suspended the sentence to 16 months. It means she will spend 13 months behind bars, due to time already served. The body of the late Yoruba actor, John Adewuni (popularly called Tafa Oloyede) has been laid to rest in his hometown of Ede, Osun on Friday. Adewuni died at his residence in Osogbo on February 1, at the age of 69. The veteran actor, who came into the limelight in 1974 under the tutelage of the late theatre icon, Oyin Adejobi, had featured in several movies, including Akanji Oniposi, Jaiyesimi, Ayanmo, Orogun and Ekuro Oloja, among others. Residents of the Federal Capital Territory Police are going to the poll today in FCT Area Council Elections. Pfizer and BioNTech have explained the delay in their completion of the request for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to authorise their Coronavirus vaccine for children under five years old. They said the delay was because there was not enough data on the efficacy of a third dose. The Divisional Police Station, Uli, in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra, was on Friday attacked by some yet-to-be-identified assailants. It was gathered that the gunmen launched an attack on the community on Thursday but were repelled by a combined team of policemen and vigilante group. The 7th edition of the Lagos Marathon kicked off at about 6:20am Saturday after two years of suspension due to coronavirus pandemic.
