Amidst mourning in Zamfara State of hundreds of villagers massacred by alleged fleeing terrorists, President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said that the military onslaughts wont stop until insurgents are eliminated. No fewer than 200 persons have been buried according to residents of the village. There were reports of mass killing of people by persons suspected to be fleeing from the ongoing military operations which has forced many to surrender. The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control on Saturday said it recorded a total of 766 cases of infections nationwide. The NCDC, in its latest release, said Lagos accounted for 261 of the total cases while Anambra State recorded 208 cases. According to the NCDC, only one case of death was listed in 24 hours making the total number of fatalities to be 3,071. Wife of the Chairman of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig-General Buba Marwa, has lost his first wife, Zainab. Zaina, who hailed from Imo State reportedly died after about two days of sickness. A statement from the family on Saturday confirmed the development. Zainab is survived by Abubakar, Mohamed, Mariam and Zainab. Marwa was military administrator of Lagos State under the Sani Abacha military regime.

The Oil village community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has advocated for deployment of a military base to tackle insecurity in the area. The Police in Yobe has arrested a 35-year-old man, Usman Ali, for allegedly stealing over 200 cell phones and other valuables in Damaturu.
