According to the Army in a statement made available on Thursday, the rescue was made possible by the Joint Task Force North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK). This was the decision of the Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday as the House repealed the law which created new emirates culminating in the eventual dethronement of Sanusi. Media reports quoted the Majority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, Lawan Hussaini Chediyar Yan Gurasa, revealing that the bill has been sent to the governor for assent. British Olympic swimming champion David Wilkie has died at the age of 70. The Scot won 200m breaststroke gold in Montreal in 1976, as well as two Olympic silver medals and three world titles.
