The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has opened up why its operatives arrested one Jonathan Okunbor who the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last election in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, has claimed to be one his witnesses before the election petition tribunal. In a rare manifestation of goodluck and perhaps answered prayers, an unidentified passenger on the ill-fated Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 is among the 28 that survived the crash. The air mishap occurred on December 25, Christmas Day when the flight took off and was en route Grozny in Russia. It was making an emergency landing near the Kazakh city of Aktau. Communities in Sokoto State have differed over the bombing of communities which have claimed many lives in the state. There were reports of jet bombings in the Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa communities of Silame Local Government Area of the state leading to death of about 10 villagers with dozens also injured. There is tension in the Olodo area of Ibadan-Iwo Road in Oyo state Monday evening as a petrol tanker has exploded. NPO Reports gathered that the cause of the explosion was not known at press time. Tongues of flames could be seen by residents with thick smoke going into the sky while residents ran for their lives as seen in a video shared by Oyo Affairs, an online medium.
