By Femi Alabi The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested 48 suspected internet fraudsters and herbalists for offences bordering on conspiracy and obtaining under false pretence in Lokoja, Kogi State capital. EFCC on X said they were arrested upon credible intelligence on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at various locations in Lokoja, adding that the herbalist, believed to be the spiritual godfather of internet fraudsters was arrested with various charms. A former Google software engineer has been charged by the US with stealing trade secrets about artificial intelligence (AI) while secretly working for two Chinese companies. Linwei Ding, also known as Leon Ding, was indicted in California on four charges and arrested on Wednesday. The Chinese national allegedly stole more than 500 confidential files.
