The apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Aisha Dahiru Binani. The decision was made by a five-member panel led by Justice John Okoro after hearing arguments from the parties involved in the case. The panel concluded that Binani’s appeal lacked merit. Experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council unequivocally condemned the recent execution of an American inmate by nitrogen gas inhalation- the first ever that the method has been used. Kenneth Eugene Smith, 58, was executed in the southern state of Alabama on January 25.
