The apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Aisha Dahiru Binani. The decision was made by a five-member panel led by Justice John Okoro after hearing arguments from the parties involved in the case. The panel concluded that Binani’s appeal lacked merit. Experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council unequivocally condemned the recent execution of an American inmate by nitrogen gas inhalation- the first ever that the method has been used. Kenneth Eugene Smith, 58, was executed in the southern state of Alabama on January 25. Security agencies on Tuesday said they have arrested five suspected kidnappers in Ekiti State. The development was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ekiti State Police Command. According to the Command, the operation that led to the arrest of the five suspects was carried out by the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oodua People’s Congress and local hunters. By Halimah Olamide The federal government of Nigeria on Tuesday, inaugurated a 37-man Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage with a mandate to recommend a new National Minimum Wage for the Country. the committee was inaugurated by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the council chamber of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. While inaugurating the committee, Shettima charged the members to consider the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy and work to alleviate the suffering of the people.
