Some protesters had turned violent burning government properties in Damaturu and Potiskum. Rather, the police command said its men took Oyekunle away to a safer location when he declined to heed the advise by operatives to leave the venue because the protesters had become restive and violent. The presence of stern-looking security men was not enough to stop the protesters who marched in their thousands chanting anti-govermnet songs.
