Customs Intercepts Foreign Rice, Others Worth N1.76bn By Kamil Opeyemi The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja, said it intercepted eight trailer loads of foreign parboiled rice and others worth N1.76 billion in September. The defected chairmen joined the ruling APC with scores of their supporters. They were received by the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, at the Lugard House, Lokoja. SP Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in a statement disclosed that the robbers had invaded a hotel in the Sagamu area of the State. Justice Binta Nyako, in a judgment, held that the prosecution had been able to establish the counts preferred against Kelvin Ezeigbe and Frank Azuekor, who were 1st and 2nd defendants, beyond reasonable doubt. The Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) has said that Nigerian scholars `especially from the intellectual community’ were not nominated for the 2023 Nobel Prize because of poor research funding.
