The Nigerian Army Special Court Martial sitting in Abuja, has fixed Oct. 10 for judgment in a case of stealing, forgery, misappropriation and conspiracy brought against a Major General. The accused, Maj.-Gen. Umaru Muhammed, was the erstwhile Group Managing Director (GMD) of Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL). The naira on Wednesday depreciated against the dollar as it exchanged at N756.21 at the Investors and Exporters window. The naira lost 1.48 per cent compared to the N745.19 it exchanged for the dollar on Tuesday. The open indicative rate closed at N766.82 to the dollar on Wednesday. A spot exchange rate of N799.90 to the dollar was the highest rate recorded within the day’s trading before it settled at N756.21. The Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), has suspended a staff member for misconduct and disobedience to laid down rules of the corporation. The Deputy Director, Public Relations, Mr Mahmood Yakub, said this in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday. Vice Chancellor, University of Abuja, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’allah has disclosed that students who intend to study in the university must undertake and present a drug test before admission.
