According to reports, the bill was sponsored by the Lower Chamber’s Speaker, Tajudeen Abass, in Counter Subversion Bill 2024 to penalize citizens who refuse to sing the new and controversial anthem, ‘Nigeria, We Hail Thee’. Agency Report A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a 24-year old panel beater, Bitrus Atu to two years imprisonment for unlawful possession of a pistol and smoking of hemp. The Magistrate, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced Atu after he pleaded guilty the crime. Agency Report A police officer accused of shooting a pregnant woman in Ohio has been charged with her murder. Ta’Kiya Young, 21, was around 25 weeks pregnant at the time of her death last August. Her unborn daughter also died in the police shooting. This was made known in a statement signed by the group’s Communications Officer, Anthony Chijena, late Tuesday. The group had, in reaction, to a report of the Independent Petroleum Marketers of Nigeria’s (IPMAN) projection of N600/litre for Dangote petrol, cleared the air surrounding the claim.
