By Halimah Olamide The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has revealed that it received a sum total of $142.5 million from Shell Petroleum Development of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) in 2023. According to the NNDC, SPDC paid $112.5 million while SNEPCo remitted $30 million compared to $59.04 million by SPDC and $20.73 by SNEPCo in 2022. Early investigations into severe turbulence that hit a Singapore Airlines flight last Tuesday reveal it dropped around 178ft (54m) over 4.6 seconds. One British passenger died and dozens more were injured when the London-Singapore flight encountered the turbulence over Myanmar and was diverted to Thailand. Singaporean investigators have extracted data stored in the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder of the aircraft.
