Nigeria’s Minister of Defence Bashir Magashi has laid the blame for the Tuesday late night attack on Kuje Correctional Centre on Boko Haram. Magashi, during an inspection of the centre on Wednesday said there about 64 members of the insurgency group being held at the prisons before the Tuesday attack. The Minister confirmed that of the almost 900 inmates of the centre, about 600 escaped during the melee. There is tension in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Abuja as gunmen have taken over the popular Kuje Prisons. There are high profile inmates and many who are awaiting trial at the custodial Center. It was gathered that the gunmen arrived at the facility in the cover of the night and started attacks on nearby resident in the bid to gain access into the facility. A security guard identified as Sunday manning a filling station at Igoba community in the Akure-North Local Government Area of Ondo State has been reportedly shot dead on Monday. More details are emerging from the circumstances leading to the discovery and rescue of 77 children from an underground apartment of a church in Ondo State. One of those captured by terrorists after attacking an Abuja bound train in Kaduna has been shot in captivity. The victim, identified as Mohammed Al’amin, is said to be in critical condition.
