Nigeria’s Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has resigned from his position. It was gathered that the Chief Justice Muhammad had turned in his resignation letter Sunday evening. He reportedly cited as his reason. There are indications that the next most senior justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, may be sworn in as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria. Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that he made a mistake in his choice of a vice president in 1999. Obasanjo said this was one of the two mistakes he had committed at very critical times but for which God saved him. MTN Nigeria on Thursday confirmed that it would roll out 5G network by Aug. 24. The mobile Operator disclosed this at the 90th edition of the telecom consumer parliament, organised by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC in Lagos The NCC, in May, handed over the final letters of award of 5G spectrum licences to winners of the December 3.5GHz spectrum auctions. They were mandated to roll out services in August by NCC. Chinese electric carmaker Nio says that two people were killed when one of its vehicles fell from the third floor of its headquarters in Shanghai. One member of staff and a person from a partner company died in the crash. The incident took place on Wednesday at around 17:20 local time, the firm said. The people that died were inside the vehicle as it fell from the building. Nio says it immediately started an investigation into the incident in co-operation with government officials. The US Senate has passed a gun control bill – the most significant firearms legislation in nearly 30 years. Fifteen Republicans joined Democrats in the upper chamber of Congress to approve the measure by 65 votes to 33. It follows mass shootings last month at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, and a primary school in Uvalde, Texas, that left 31 people dead. The lower chamber of the National Assembly on Tuesday expressed regrets and anger over the outcome of the recent primaries which have denied many members from returning. Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila while speaking said the members knew what would happen and reason for canvassing against the delegates system.
