Former President , Olusegun Obasanjo, has thrilled spectators on Friday in a football match scheduled to mark his 85th birthday. A British man, Robert Bob Golding, who set up the University of Ibadan’s zoological garden and made it popular with two popular gorillas is dead. Golding was said to have been invited to set up a zoo for the Zoological Department of the premier university in 1963 after which he brought in two traumatised gorillas which had been rescued in Cameroon. The two gorillas, named Aruna and Imade, were the cynosure of zoo visitors for many years before the death of Aruna in 1995 and Imade in 2009. UN’s Senior Political Affairs official, Rosemary DiCarlo, on Friday told the UN Security Council that heavy fighting reported overnight at Ukraine’s largest nuclear power is both unacceptable and “highly irresponsible’’. Ukraine’s president has attacked Nato leaders in a fiery speech over their refusal to implement a no-fly zone around the country. Speaking from Kyiv, Volodymyr Zelensky said the West’s reluctance to intervene has given Russia “a green light” to continue bombarding towns and villages. The management of Chicken Republic on Friday denied sacking the security men seen a viral video dancing while on duty. Chicken Republic, a major food outlet, said the security men were not its direct staff but those of a security outfit to which it outsourced its security issues. In the statement, the company said while it is not opposed to its staffers having fun, it also does not joke with the security and safety of its customers.
