Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara on Wednesday swore-in Sen. Hassan Nasiha as the state new deputy governor, following the impeachment of Mahdi Aliyu by the State House of Assembly. Speaking at the ceremony in Gusau, Matawalle said that the action was to fill the vacuum created by Aliyu’s exit. The Nigeria Police Force, Osun Command, on Wednesday confirmed the killing of one person in Iwo, during the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Congress in the state. The command’s Spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, said that the victim, a member of PDP participating in the congress in Iwo, was attacked by members of a rival group within the party. Opalola said that the incident happened at Oke-Oba, Agberire Village, Ward 14 in Iwo. The meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities with the Federal Government has ended on another note of disagreement. The meeting which was called on Tuesday to address issues that precipitated the strike nationwide, came to an end late into the night after which both parties could not reach any agreement. The delegation from The Federal Government was led by the Minister of Labour and Productivity Dr. Chris Ngige. No fewer than nine residents of Ilokun Government Reservation Area, within the vicinity of Progress FM in Ado-Ekiti, have been hospitalised after inhaling thick smoke emanating from a dump site located in the area. The victims, including children, were rushed to a nearby hospital after inhaling the thick smoke from the dump site, which was set on fire. The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) says it is not recruiting and cautioned potential job seeker against falling into the hands of scammers. The NCoS Public Relations Officer Francis Enobore made this known in a statement he issued on Tuesday in Abuja. He said that the clarification became necessary following desperate efforts by alleged fraudsters to scam unsuspecting job seekers or their sponsors.
