There are reports that a notorious bandit kingpin, known as Alhaji Auta has been killed in Zamfara State. The Nigerian Air Force operating under Operation Hadarin Daji, had reportedly bombarded their enclaves at Gusami Forest and Tsamre Village in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of the State. There was confusion in Magodo Estate, Lagos Saturday night as Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu, allegedly arrested some security guards within the estate for refusing to grant him access. Odumosu was said to have arrived at the estate to attend a party reportedly organized by a Special Adviser to Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, inside Magodo Brooks Estate. However, the security guards attached to the gate reportedly asked Odumosu to call the person he had come to visit as the usual practice in the estate. The funeral mass for South African anti-apartheid campaigner Archbishop Desmond Tutu has taken place at the Anglican cathedral in Cape Town. Tutu, a Nobel Peace Prize winner who helped end the racist regime in South Africa, died last Sunday aged 90. In his eulogy, President Cyril Ramaphosa described Tutu as “the spiritual father of our new nation”. Tutu had insisted there should be no “lavish spending” on the funeral. He wanted “the cheapest available coffin”. President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday accused the National Assembly of making what he called worrisome changes to the budget proposal by the Executive arm of government. Signing the document into law on Friday, the President gave a rundown of the areas where the lawmakers made significant but worrisome changes to the proposal. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Thursday announced a total of 1,139 new cases of coronavirus nationwide. This was just as the centre announced two deaths in 24 hours peaking cases of fatalities at 3,030. In the latest chart by the NCDC, Rivers State topped with 420 cases while Lagos State recorded 324 cases followed by Oyo state which recorded 81 cases.
