Ace comedian Ayo Makun popularly called AY has apologized to Afrobeat singer, Davido after his jokes which made fun of the singer’s many female friends who claimed to have been impregnated by him.
Making reference to Davido’s track “I’m Unavailable” AY had warned the DJ at his last show that despite singing he is unavailable, so many women are out there who have claimed Davido is the father of their unborn children.
“I’m so sorry for telling that joke the way it came out in the blogs. I shouldn’t even call it a joke anymore,” AY said in a statement he released Sunday evening.
This is coming few hours after a viral clip surfaced online of him shading Davido, making reference to his track “I’m Unavailable” AY had warned the DJ at his last show that despite singing he is unavailable, so many women are out there who have claimed Davido is the father of their unborn children.
However, this particular joke did not land well with many Nigerians, who found his statement offensive and inappropriate.
They criticized AY for making such personal and potentially hurtful remarks about Davido and his family situation.
AY, in his apology has therefore acknowledged that making such a joke should not have happened and that he apologises to Davido as no harm was intended.
“I am so sorry for telling that joke the way it came out in Warri. I shouldn’t even call it a joke anymore. It wasn’t funny like it was during my tour of US and Canada, and you have every right to be angry after seeing how the blogs used it.
“Please know that it is always a learning experience for all of us in the entertainment business. I deserve any backlash or negative thoughts coming my way for the joke that was badly delivered in Warri. So, no excuses at all, my Aburo. No reason am. I remain your number one fan, and I love you, @davido”
