Suspected bandits have attacked a group of road workers with their tractor set ablaze in Ondo State.
The incident which occurred at Obatedo in Akure North Local Government Area of the state had sent panic among members of the community.
Video of the incident shared on X showed thick black smoke emerging from the tractor with none of the attacked road workers seen at sight.
The official who recorded the video recounted how the gunmen opened fire of the workers while declaring that they own Ondo state.
“They were shooting sporadically. They said ‘you think say we dey play with you? We say na we get Ondo state, you con dey do road. We will put fire. We will kill as many as possible.’
“That was how they were shouting.” The official said.
NPO Reports contacted the Ondo Police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, to confirm over development.
Jimoh however said he is unable to confirm the incident as he currently out of the state and is yet to receive any briefing about the attack.
“As I speak with you, I’m not in Akure. I’m in Abuja. I came for a conference.
“I can’t confirm that. I’m not privy to that information.” The police spokesperson said.
