May Delay President’s Visit
- Safiu Kehinde
President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Benue state may have been delayed due heavy flood that ravaged the Lafia-Makurdi road on Wednesday.
As captured in a video shared on X, the flood submerged the highway, rendering it impassable with several commuters stranded.
Some vehicles, including a convoy claimed to be mobilised for the President’s visit, were trapped in the flood.
Tinubu had on Monday announced plan to visit Benue state today in the wake of the Yelewata town’s massacre where over 200 people were killed by suspected armed herdsmen.
While commiserating with the state and victims of the tragic incident, Tinubu rescheduled his planned visit to Kaduna State in order to travel to Benue.
The state governor, Alia Hyacinth, yesterday declared Wednesday work-free day in anticipation for the visit.
