Nigerians are reacting to the decision by the Government of Benue state to order emergency cleaning of the state’s major roads ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state today.
Videos of workmen cutting grasses on major roads went viral midnight as the workers were seen working into late in the night of Tuesday, eve of the President’s visit.
NPO Reports that President Tinubu is expected to visit the state today to ascertain the level of destruction after suspected herdsmen stormed villages killing scores of residents.

The development has further aggravated the security situation in the region giving rise to apprehensions over the safety of residents.
While commiserating with the state and victims of the tragic incident, Tinubu rescheduled his planned visit to Kaduna State in order to travel to Benue.
The state governor, Alia Hyacinth, yesterday declared Wednesday work-free day in anticipation for the visit.
However, the late night cleaning exercise embarked on by the state’s workmen had generated reactions from netizens who faulted the timing of the exercise while accusing Hyacinth of doing eye service.
“After @HyacinthAlia’s 4years as governor he will be given minister of eye service, him too Sabi that work, kela”@RaphaelVanen
“You can imagine. Did the bushes just grow over night ? What stopped them from cutting it since ?

“Our governor didn’t anticipate the presidential visit, the town is actually in a mess.”@JudeAondofa
“I can’t even blame the workers, I’m sure their jobs were threatened.
Poverty and ignorance is indeed a major too for those in power.”@kwaghan_doo
“Lol wtf is this shit. So if Tinubu isn’t coming they won’t remember to keep the town clean?”@MarketKingAlex.
