The All Progressive Congress in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday announced the suspension of the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Umaru Ganduje.
The executive of the party in the Ganduje Ward of the local government said the action became necessary because of the allegations which the state government is prosecuting.
Legal Adviser of the party in the ward, Haladu Gwanjo , announced the suspension.
According to him, the members decided to suspend the national chairman’s membership after a vote of no confidence was passed on him due to his inability to clear his name from various allegations of corruption against him, which range from the circulated dollar videos where he was allegedly collecting bribe from contractors
He said the suspension takes effect from today 15 April.
NPO Reports that Ganduje had been caught in a video which went viral while he was allegedly taking some wads of Dollar allegedly from a contractor that was handling a project in the state.
This happened when he was the Governor of the state.
An online publication, Daily Nigerian, released the video.
The Governor who had constitutional immunity, could not be arrested as he served two terms of 8 years in office.
His battle to ensure the election of a successor failed as the APC candidate Nasir Gawuna failed to emerge as the Governor.
The present administration led by Mr. Kabir Abba Yusuf has vowed to expose all forms of corruption under Ganduje.
