Oyinkansola Badejo-Okunsanya (SAN) has emerged winner of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Presidential Election as the voting exercise closes.
NPO Reported that the NBA had yesterday announced the extension of the Saturday election till 7:35am on Sunday amid reports of alleged voters’ disenfranchisement and technical challenges which prevented several members from voting.
With the extension deadline elapsing, Badejo-Okunsanya is billed to be declared as the new and first female NBA President as she won the online poll with a total of 12,317 votes which represents 47.18 percent of the total votes cast.
Coming behind Badejo-Okunsanya is Lateef Akangbe (SAN) who recorded a total of 7,934 votes.
Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro (SAN) came third with 5,855 votes.
However, the NBA is yet to formally announce the conclusion of the election and declaration of Badejo-Okunsanya as the new president of the association as at the time of filing this report.
It also remains unclear if the other contenders will be accepting the outcome of the election which was marred with reports of alleged vote rigging, sabotage, and disenfranchisement.
