Amidst outcries over the cost of electricity in Nigeria, one of the Distribution companies, Ikeja Electric on Monday announced a cut in its tariff. The cut however affects only consumers under the Band A category who were paying N225 per kilowhatt before now.
The company, in a statement released via its verified X handle said, “ Dear Esteemed Customers,
“Please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kwh to N206.80/kwh effective 6th May 2024 with guaranteed availability of 20-24hrs supply daily.
“The tariff for Bands B, C, D, and E remains unchanged.”
The high cost of electricity had created tension across the country since it was introduced last month amidst grinding economic hardship. The affected Band A are those promised 20 to 24 hours of electricity supply on a daily basis.
