The Federal Government has cancelled the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as requirement for admission into the National Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes across the country.
As against initial requirement of sitting for UTME, prospective students are now only required to meet the minimum of four credits in their Secondary School Certification Examination (SSCE).
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, announced the development on Monday during the 2026 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) policy meeting in Abuja.
Alausa, in his address, noted that the move is designed to ease the administrative burden on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Under the new guidelines, prospective students will only need a minimum of four O-level credits in school certificate to qualify for admission.
