The Independent National Electoral Commission, has declared the winner, candidate of the All Progressive Congress in the Saturday election in Edo state, Senator Monday Ekpobhollo.
According to the INEC Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the APC candidate polled a total of 291,667 while his PDP counterpart, Asue Ighodalo scored 247,274.
The candidate of the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata, scored 22,763.
“That Okpebholo Monday of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.” Kuta declared.
As contained in the collated results, Okphebolo emerged victorious across 11 local government areas out of the 18 LGAs.
His highest votes was recorded at Akoko Edo LGA where he gathered 34,847 votes.

On the other hand, PDP’s candidate and runner-up of the election, Asue Ighodalo, won across seven LGAs with his largest votes coming from Ikpoba Okha LGA which he won with 26,382 votes.
Meanwhile, Labour Party’s candidate, Olumide Akpata managed to gather 22,763 votes across the 18 LGAs.
His highest votes was recorded at Oredo local government area which saw him earned 5,389 votes.
