The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers on Thursday said it was backing the nationwide strike called by the Nigerian Labour Congress.
The NLC has slated October 3 for the commencement of its nationwide strike citing Federal Government’s alleged failure to address hardship imposed on Nigerians by the removal of the fuel subsidy.
In a statement released on Thursday by the President Comrade Williams Akporeha and General Secretary, Comrade Afolabi Olawale, the union said the government has demonstrated high insensitivity and lack of regards for the Nigerian masses.
The union said that it found it curious that the government could be so unbordered. by the sufferings of Nigerians adding that it is aware of the impact a 24 hour shutdown of the nation’s economy could have on the ordinary people.
