President Bola Tinubu has entered into a meeting with the Governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara and a former governor of the state, Peter Odili over the festering crisis in the state. At the meeting are said to be the Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Rivers state deputy governor. Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, who was said to have been at the Villa earlier was said to have held another meeting with the President before the arrival of the former governor and the incumbent.
The crisis in the state had degenerated into a huge one with loyalists of both Wike and Fubara now threatening fire and brimstones. Fubara and his Godfather had parted ways in November after some hoodlums burnt a section of the state House of Assembly peaking a crisis that had started with diagreements over the running of the state.
Fubara’s loyalitss had accused Wike of not allowing Wike to take charge allegedly remote-governing the state from his base in Abuja where he is the FCT Minister.
Last week, the state House of Assembly was pulled down in what has triggered a wave of concerns for the state.
Though, no agenda for the meeting between the President and Fubara and Odili was made available, it was gathered that the meeting was part of Tinubu’s intervention to bring the warring factions to an agreement.
