President Bola Tinubu on Monday sacked Jalal Arabi as the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
He has also nominated Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new replacemen.
The president sacked Arabi over allegations of corruption for which he is currently standing trial with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Allied Offenses Commission.
Arabi was a before he was appointed into the position last year.
Arabi is being probed along with the commission’s secretary, Abdullahi Kontagora.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy said the nominated NAHCON chair is a renowned scholar with qualifications from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University, Pakistan.
“He is also well-grounded in Hajj operations, having served as the Chairman of Kano State Pilgrims Board, and successfully superintended the operations of the largest quota of state pilgrims in the country.
“The nomination is subject to confirmation by the Senate,” Onanuga stated
